18185 phone charges. Help, please.

Post by Mo »

I had a phoneline from BT and they gave me free evening & weekend calls. I would rather have paid for what I used (especially now I use email so much) but they took that option away.

Then my daughter told me about 18185. If you register and dial 18185 in front of the number you are dialing it is much cheaper. For normal calls 5p/call 0p/min. Mobile calls are cheaper too. So I used that for weekday calls.

I've changed my phone to Plusnet, the same as my email. I looked on the 18185 website and it says I can still use it. But I am confused. There seems to be no way you can Contact them to ask a question other than links to pages of website. There it say you can dial a freephone no for your international calls. It gives a chart of prices for UK & International calls but doesn't say if you dial the same freephone no, or still use 18185 for UK calls

Hmm I have found something on another page that seems to imply I can use it.
Still no Contact details, just a list of options to 'check first' and nothing to tell you what to do if that doesn't answer the question.

Who do you pay line rental to?
With BT it's really easy to put 18185 before the number - the BT charge to set up the call went up a lot. 5p flat rate for a normal number is a bargain. 0808 1 703 703 is a bit more to remember, but I expect I'll get used to it. http://www.18185.co.uk/

You set up an account and a few pounds comes out of your credit card now and then (sometimes 2,3, or 4 months) - after 10 - 20 calls.
