2 reasons I like my Converted Shed to Office

Post by Richard »

The Shed cost £200 (no window). 8' x 6'.
I built the double glazed window from an old unit found in a Skip, too small for a body to get through!
It's plaster boarded from left overs.

Everything in it bar the PC equipment is recycled (ie. the work tops are old doors).

But the main thing is it's a lovely hideaway and I have views like below !

Why spend ten grand or more on an Extension!

That's terrific, Richard! And what a great view!

Is it very cold and damp in the winter, though? I was so pleased with the garage when we moved to this house. Large garage, no car to store, what an opportunity! I set up my workspace almost immediately. But over the winter, all of my tools rusted. My son let a pile of snow in when he opened the door one day, and I left it there to see whether it was as insanely cold in the garage as I thought it was. It stayed there, unchanged, for days!

Hi,

I have an energy efficient radiator in there for Winter.
In fact I prefer working in there during the cold season, snug and cosy etc.

In the Summer it can be like a Sauna !

It has four security fail safes so pretty pleased with it.

PS. Forgot, I did buy an Executive Chair, still way below the three figure mark though :-D

Thanks, Richard. )t'

If we ever manage to draft-proof the garage, that's definitely something to consider.

I do keep some Wine out there occasionally :)

Two noisier things about it..

1. When it chucks it down

2. When Pigeons tread heavily accross the roof!
