A year without spending anything?

Post by thebunster »

A Bristol man is beginning a year-long experiment to live without money - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/7756086.stm

A noble effort, but I wonder if this will work?

It says in the article that he is going to be relying on friends (presumably friends who have used money to by the things he is going to be using!) which does rather defeat the object of his exercise.

Mind you it says at the foot of the article:

"A previous attempt to walk to India without spending money ended in Calais when his lack of French meant he could not explain his mission and he returned to Bristol."

So clearly forward-planning is not his strongest point!!!

Sounds like a bit of a nutter )w(

And its not proving anything anyway if he is just scrounging off friends - that's not being self sufficient )dwn:

I think I understand the point he is making, that you should be able to exchange goods for work rather than money. It will be interesting to see how far he goes with this project but the toilet situation may get a bit unpleasant if the report is accurate LOL
