Best way to split pallets?
Best way to split pallets?I am sure I am not alone in having problems splitting pallets
Would you guys that do it regularly please share you skills with us? I seem to just split the wood I have access to lots of them, but would have to split them before I can take them home. One they don't fit in my car and secondly they are too heavy for me to lift. BTW....love all your projects, you are all so talented Angela x Slave to 3 children, 1 Greyhound, 1 Cat, 4 rescued hens and a very patient hubby x

I mentioned this on my brooder post but I find it easiest to use a flat pry bar, not a round crow bar. When you are levering the boards, dont try and get the nails of one joint completely out before you go to the next one. Lever each joint a little then go to the next working your way along the board/plank. when you get to the end start at the begining again and they will hopefully come off cleanly. Re: Best way to split pallets?Thank you Al, I'll buy or borrow a pry bar and give it a go

I am going to get one made. Vir prudens non contra ventum mingit
Calm down dear ! It's only a forum
Re: Best way to split pallets?A colleague at work cuts round the nail heads with a small hole saw (without the middle drill bit fitted). That way he gets good planks with the minimum of effort. Still ok for most applications where the hole doesn't matter
