My drilling a hole in the wall tip

Post by Richard »

This is about the only useful tip I know.

To save cleaning up the powdered plaster off the floor and spending ages trying to get the stains off the skirting board, get some masking tape and put a Plastic Bag under the place you are drilling.

Just make sure you use one which hasn't those holes in the bottom!

If you have a box under the plastic it will catch the swarf/dust )t'
Old hoover under the drill bit too catches it all - but this costs in leccy.

Still got mine, a food mixer type (can't remember toe proper name) and a brace and bit. For wood they're OK but for concrete they're a right So*.

I use a variation of Richards tip, using an A4 envelope (foolscap?) instead of the plastic bag. If you pull it open a bit when you put it up, it stays open better.

Ahhh what you need need is a hammer action hand drill.
I have one here somewhere, (some of the teef are missing on the gearing) )w(

Have to confess
I have more tools than I could ever use, I already had loads, then I got all of my fathers.
At least one brace and bit, hand drills (various sizes), 5 electric ones (various), plus 2 rechargables(used to have 3, gave one away).
Together with drill bits and cutters, some of which have never been opened?

I also have my grandfathers wood bits and brace, and I do still use them once in a while for cutting larger holes.

I use a dustpan under the drill to catch the waste. Remember the days before hammer drills trying to drill into hard brick with a hand drill or how to pass a few hours!

I hold the hoover hose half an inch under the drill to suck up the dust as himself drills the hole :-D

Thats awful Richard ,bring your Grandfathers in from the shed immediately, its far too cold for men of such a great age to be left out there . They need a sweet cup of tea and a suggestive biscuit ! {warn}

By the way if you dont use it anymore maybe Alex could use it (what is it ?)

+confused+
It will be alright in the end , if its not alright, it isn't the end .
