Kitchen furniture & accessories
Kitchen furniture & accessoriesI was clearing my haybarn out the other day and came across some really lovely baskets, starting with those you find at greengrocers holding mushrooms, through to wooden boxes, not nice enough to look vintage but good all the same.
I'm going to start with these as my painting project. I just now need to decide what colours I will have to get from Ma Larkin, as there are lots to choose from. Am going to try and show some before and after photos, however if my paintwork rubbish the after photos might spontaneous combust or something http://www.freshstartforhens.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Kitchen furniture & accessoriesI'm just going to use paint, perhaps use a slightly different colour on the inside. Got some ideas - well actually got them from the book Ma Larkin sent me

Re: Kitchen furniture & accessoriesI like baskets too. Alex refitted our kitchen a couple of years ago and where there had been a monster dresser that the previous owner had left behind , we put an entertainment unit (can't think of the right words and that sounds a bit iffy) that has different sized pigeon hole spaces and shelves ,its white and we haave used rustic baskets in the pigeon holes for storing all sorts of things from spices to hats and gloves and imo it looks great, so good luck with your project Bluebell
It will be alright in the end , if its not alright, it isn't the end .

Re: Kitchen furniture & accessories
But you are starting again and that is fantastic! What a fabulous thing to start with, baskets! I love baskets. What colours are you going to do? OOhhh if you need any gingham I have tons if it so I could always send some to you. I have lilac, blue pink and green. It would be great for lining baskets as Perchy suggested. Just read the post below You could always use some for something else!!
Re: Kitchen furniture & accessoriesMa, I need to set aside a weekend when I can come down to visit, or maybe a day in the week to come and pay a visit. I've already got some ladies (well, actually friends of mine - including Bonnie Babe, new member of DTL) who are interested in come down to visit and see your lovely shop.
I quite fancy the grey shades, with a bit of red for dramatic effect! http://www.freshstartforhens.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It was 4 or 5 ft long with lots of various drawers with really nice old handles.(although it was probably 70s). They wanted £100 ( ) for it, but actually, with a coat of paint (I thought of you instantly Ma - could even see the duck egg blue.....) it would have been completely fabby dabby.

100 pounds?!? In a charity shop?!? MMmmm... duck egg blue... lovely. Maybe on top of chateau grey
Re: Kitchen furniture & accessoriesI am sure charity shops get some lovely items that they feel are worth a lot of money, but think they are getting away from the fact they are charity shops and the people who use them come from all walks of life.
