Rad stat help please

Post by p.penn »

I went to turn off a rad by the thermostat the other day - although I don't do it often, I don't think it has been that long since it was used. Anyway, it was really stiff and I only just managed it.

Just gone to turn it back on again and I can't seem to do it, and I have tried several times. Can I sort of squidge some WD40 or something around it? ( it is not the same type of stat as the rad Steve helped me mend a few weeks back).

oh dear, need a photo of it next to you dressed as either Kermit the frog or queenie out of blackadder the second series. without the photo (and Cherpy will be able to back me up) diagnosis will be impossible.

Ah, would oblige SS but my Kermit outfit is at the cleaners (the 28 day ones) and one of my son's flatmates has borrowed my queenie costume. Sorry. I would have loved to have helped.

Do you really need a pic? If so, it will have to wait till tomorrow. It has a shiny chrome top, with a red-to black (High - 4-3-2-1 low) bit attached underneath, inside a white plastic sleevey type thing.

The plastic thang will be attached to the valeve body. Take the head completely off- by undoing the pastic bit - this may be a screw/bolt or allen keyy grub screw.
You reveal the pin (as before) then we can talk....

yike* Oh no - not again! I am not up for it today as am relaxin' and chillin' )grin2(

Thanks though Steve - I will do that another time though if I can. I tried again last night to move the stat with plier type things which ratchet to make them bigger, but as the top is round, it won't grip. }hairout{

if you manage to remove the top off the TRV look at the pin and tap this down several times dont try and pull it up and down as you could pull the pin out of the body and probably cause a jet of water to shoot out , just tap it down until the pin pops up and down if you press itby you finger

Every TRV pin I've tried to push down almost pierces my thumb so I use grips...
