At least you have a car where the top will actually go sown. Ours is old and each year more `brokee`, and OH takes it to work most days and even if it did work, hes too lazy. Just the weather this week for driving about in the open air. )t'

Actually.........I can't any more in the garden as next door has lodgers..... :shock:

I always used to go topless on holiday, until about 5 years ago.

Where we used to go in southern Italy, Sorrento, doesn't have any natural beaches, just sheer cliffs. If you go to the 'beach', you have to descend the cliffs and it is actually rows of sunbeds on man made podiums, which are built on giant boulders. Kind of in the bay of Naples, with vesuvius in full view (stunning).

Alongside this, you have to understand the culture of this area. They are quite a close patriarchal, highly family orientated society who basically just tolerate tourists, but no more than that. They are very religious, the churches are so stunningly beautiful. When we went there were no night clubs.....just restaurants, bars.....no trouble at all (you wouldn't want to cause trouble there either).

So there was me, the ONLY person lying topless on my sunbed on the podium, when my sunbed collapsed at the head end, which propelled me backwards, head first through the metal railings and left me dangling about an inch away from one of the jagged support boulders. yike* It all happened so quickly but all I remember was the havoc that ensued!! All that was left of me on the podium was my feet, so I was dragged upwards and back through the railings by my ankles by the man who had been lying next to me. My husband (who had been lying next to me the other side) was frozen with shock and I will always remember seeing his face as I was pulled to safety {rofwl}

Anyway, although I was embarrassed, fairly bruised and scraped, more than anything I was mortified that I had been semi naked when this had happened. Even more so when my rescuer then returned to his book - the Pope's life story. :shock:

That is why I no longer go completely topless on holiday. {rofwl}
