My Shed Project

Post by Tel-1968 »

Hi

Thought i would share with you how i built my shed and some of the materials i used to build it with, well there is one main recycled material actually that formed the main part of the build and gives the shed its strentgh and stability.

Over a period of months on my travels around london carrying out my job i looked out for old wardrobes that people had dumped by bin chutes etc.

most wardrobes manufactured today are made from the same stuff so it was quite usefull when it came to building my shed, i must have collected over 100 peices all around 5 or 6ft x 2 ft and when i felt i hade enough i set about building it.
Obviously i had to buy some materials and the main frame i used 3x2 bought from b&Q

I then set about attaching my wardrobe panels to the inside and outside of the shed

I used perspex for the windows recycled from what used to cover a big map of London from when i was on the Knowledge..

To cover the shed i collected old pallets and took them apart and nailed them to the shed giving it a proper shed look

Then i applied the decking to the front which i obviously had to buy from new

The inside

A few coats of paint on everything and i was very pleased with the outcome, all in all i laid out about 3 or 4 hundred pound but that included the decking / paint / roofing and screws and a few little bits and bobs but i ended up with a ver strong robust shed.

Just to add

The door came from my bedroom as we replace some doors in the house. also the roof struts came from for sale signs that you see attached to houses also some of the roof material i got from a friend as well as the paint i used to cover it .
another part i used from old wardrobes was the back panelling which i used to attach to the inside of the shed giving it a decent look and i used wardrobe wood to build all the shelving lol
