Clearing moss from paths

Post by runnerbeens »

Does anyone have any advice on how to clear moss from paths?

I used Jeyes fluid on some of the flags but stopped using it because it brought worms up that appeared to be writhing in agony! I was also concerned that my hens might eat these worms and also suffer.

The flags in the garden get really slippery in the winter due to the moss, I don't want to pressure wash them because it uses so much water doing it that and I end up with half the garden flooded.

Any tips would be very much appreciated,

June

I do mine the hard way - scrape it off with a hoe, then brush with a stiff bristle brush.

I have used that. The stuff they recommend for paths (they do a weed killer too) says not to use on veg gardens and if you do, not to eat anything grown for 6 months! I dont think it would be very chicken friendly, but it was effective at killing the moss.

try Armillatox it will kill moss. Main use is in cleaning greenhouses and pots but will work on moss, much safer than jays
