Post by Cranford Steve »

I made this little fence to keep the children and dog of the veg patch. All made from recycled wood, Pallets and scrap posts.

Looks good. Lovely large garden you've got there.

Thankyou, it is massive when you have to mow and weed it. The front is a quarter the size!
Really have to keep on top of it! )t'

Cheers Mallard, Im glad it has your seal of approval )t' Not bad considering it was made from scrap wood. If you look closely you can see the difference in width of the pallet planks!
But because I spaced them evenly you dont notice it as much! )t'

Looks great, we are hoping to do something similar with ours this year so thanks for helping me visualise it. Wasn't sure how tall to make it as our chooks can jump quite high :?

Kids used to just across the grass straight on to the veg patch, now they have to climb over but they dont bother. My dog is a little terrier and is too lazy to jump over! :-D

Wow, that fence is really good, I would like something like that round the bit of grass (only a little bit) under my kitchen window to stop bods visiting next door congregating under my window and also walking on the grass. Will have to show photos to hubby, although DIY is not his strongest point, (we would`nt let him have a tool kit for a long while) as when he had done something it usually fell apart or fell down. He tried to make a ferret hutch once NOT GOOD! but he is a real star cooking and being a su per hubby. :-D

Your fence looks supberb, Steve, lot of work there.

We have a picket fence, recycled from our old house, where it kept next doors little dears from crawling through our hedge. It is not very high, but all last year when girls were free ranging they never attempted to fly or hop over it. Don't know if the pointed tops had anything to do with it.
