Shower

Post by Tink »

Hi, Could our shower be on the way out as these last weeks the water has not been as hot on its usual setting. Could this just be due to a change in water pressure ?
Thanks

Have you tried readjusting the temp on your hot water tank?

Hello Tink,
What sort of shower is it?
Gravity fed off a hot water tank, power shower, bog standard electric shower?

It's probably because the mains water coming in has been colder. If you've got a low powered electric shower then it can't heat it up fast enough. Try turning up the temp, if it's already at max then you'll just have to have cool showers till the weather warms up a bit :-D

Might also be that the shower internals are scaled up (just like an electric kettle), especially if you are in a hard water area!.. :?

Yep, the element could well be getting scaled up. But it's interesting that I have a friend in Carmarthenshire
and I notice the same there when I visit, the shower never works properly in the winter. Must be the freezing water off those mountains :-D
