Fridge light
Fridge lightMy fridge light stayed on all the time and has burnt out and melted some of the plastic interior casing a little. I have just bought a new bulb and its doing the same thing and not going out. I cannot find anything on the door which looks like it makes contact
with anything to swith it off. I am baffled. Glad I only paid £1.50 for pack of "Eveready" bulbs as Mr. Txxco charged over £4 for one !! I cannot find a website for "Brandt" on the net. The booklet just says change the bulb and does not indicate any help with how the mechanism works or has any contact numbers in it. Over to you wonderful peeps to try to help please. many thanks Re: Fridge lightHow can you tell that it's staying on when the door is shut?

Tink, just about every fridge I have had has a plunger switch on the inside of the fridge wall, not on the door. Relax, I could have been a twin.
Re: Fridge lightThanks AL37 I have just looked again and just cant find anything.
I looked on Google and apparently this is a common problem and they mentioned sensors on some fridges. Also that could be a fire hazzard think I will just have to shine a torch in there, not impressed as only had it 2 years. At least I did not pay for the Txxco bulb. Mo - the food was getting warm too ! could have saved on cooking costs I suppose
Re: Fridge lightHi Tink,
Have a look on the link below, I had a similar problem, the arm on the switch that was activated by the fridge door had broke, had to improvise with a piece of plastic and some superglue! Maybe your switch is in the same position!!.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/saintsilve ... 675336631/ I am old and wise, because I was young and stupid!.
Re: Fridge lightThanks all for your advice. I have given up now as just cant see any sensor.
Re: Fridge lightDid you get it worked out, Tink?
Re: Fridge lightThanks Lillia, I just cannot see anything that could be a sensor. I can not find any way to contact the manufacturer either when I Google them.
I keep seeing the new bulbs on the kitchen table which reminds me its a job that wont be sorted Anyone one two new fridge bulbs?
Re: Fridge light
How frustrating for you, Tink! Re: Fridge lightyou wont see the sensor just the lever or arm that you can push in and out, this will turn light out when door closes.the piece that pushes on this may be worn or loose
