Inspiration.Re: Inspiration.A couple of steps closer to being finished, the party is one week today.
The way I feel at the minute I bet I sleep through it. So, the sink now has a tap, its not a conventional tap but I had it so it was used. This stove belongs to a good mate, he has loaned it to me for the summer, I made the chimney from stuff that was lying around at the allotment, not the best chimney but functional. I am determined to keep costs to a minimum on this. So far I have spent £36.00 but I did sell some polly tunnel hoops for £30 so you could say so far its cost £6.00. Where did the stove and pipe come from? Allotment http://taylorsplot.blogspot.com/
Orfy Blog (Food'n'Stuff) http://orfy.blogspot.com/ 1xMaran 1xRIR 6xWarrens 2xMuts Re: Inspiration.Hi Orfy, the stove belongs to a mate, he actualy got it given to him by a collegue of his wifes, its only on loan to me. I have tried to buy it from him, I even offered a three figure sum of money but its bot for sale.
I can't blame him though, if it was mine I wouldnt sell it. I will eventualy make one myself when that one is returned. The pipe was left on my second allotment by the previous tennant, its mild steel and a bit thin for a permanent chimney but it will last a year or two. As part of the loan deal my mate will get the chimney back with the stove to put back in his allotment shed. Relax, I could have been a twin.

Re: Inspiration.
That's my next project Al, as soon as I get hold of an old gas bottle! Some days you're the pigeon, some days you're the statue.
Re: Inspiration.Steve have you decommisioned a gas bottle before?
If not send me a pm and I will tell you how I was told to do it safely. Relax, I could have been a twin.
Re: Inspiration.Your stove looks good Al, I built one last year out of gas bottle I,m just waiting to find a gash 4-6" steel pipe to make a flue for it. Steve its a pity you weren,t closer I,ve three empty gas bottles out in the backyard.
Dont ever grow up, its a trap
Re: Inspiration. Its right what they say about one mans rubish..... I have recently scrapped the heating system from my greenhouse. About 12 eight foot lengths of six inch cast iron pipes.

Re: Inspiration.
Upside down with the valve open for a coupe of weeks isn't it, Al? Bob, I get over to the east coast a few times during the summer, where abouts are you? I keep looking at the scrap yards for some 3 or 4 inch pipe for the flue. Welding I'm not too bad at, you can always grind it out and start again Some days you're the pigeon, some days you're the statue.
Re: Inspiration.Sent you a pm Steve.
To anyone else reading this DO NOT decomission gas bottles if you do not know what you are doing. Even an apparently empty gas bottle still has enough residual gas to blow your hand off. There are also legal implications with certain bottles remaing to be the property of the gas company. Relax, I could have been a twin.
