Saw Horse

Post by jonnyb »

I was given a few pallets by a neighbour, split a couple of them for the timber and with some of this made a saw horse.

It's modelled on one my Dad built more than 20 years ago which has finally fallen to bits!

True, Dom, but I'll have to make sure they don't try to inherit early! :-D

Michael, in case you wanted or needed to know, I used M8 coach bolts for the pivots and to attach the cross / bracing struts with a penny washer behind each nut to stop it from digging in. I used screws to fix the two pieces of each brace together and to attach the side rails, but did consider re-using some of the ringshank nails I salvaged when splitting the pallets.

Thanks. I'll have to wait a while to put it through its paces at my parents' farm, but it feels strong enough.

Thanks, HappyBob. I'd promised my Dad ages ago that I'd make a replacement for the one that fell to bits but had been putting it off until I could get hold of some cheap wood. It was only when my neighbour gave me the pallets and I read on here about other people's pallet projects that it occurred to me I could give it a go. :-D
