Another Job out of the way!..

Post by silverback »

Jan has been on at me for ages now, to treat the draining board around the kitchen sink. So stripped it with wirewool using wax/oil stripper, then sanded it with sandpaper finish sanding done with wet & dry paper, and cleaned it all down with Isopropyl Alcohol
Have put the first coat of varnish on, with the second coat going on tonight, so as to give it time to dry before tomorrow morning! )t' ..

Extremely impressive, but you can go off people you know! >fi<

This is actually a touchy subject for me as I have a fab reclaimed victorian baby bath for my kitchen sink and when it was installed, I managed to buy a lovely piece of old pine, so the builder made a temporary teeny shelf at one end, and a narrow shelf at the back for the taps (no draining board). That was 8 years ago and you should see it now - you would have a fit yike*

The tap has been dripping ---> dripping more ---> runs - I had the washer replaced a few months back but it still leaks so need new mixer tap {cry} Where it has leaked for so long, the wood has gone rotten and the wall behind it is completely sopping. I noticed this week that there is a seedling growing out of the wall yike*

My fab neighbour is going to sort it for me in a few weeks, although I need to buy a new mixer tap. That in itself is confusing. >dum<

Wow, nice refinishing job, silverback. That wood is beautiful and I'm sure Jan is very proud of you and pleased with her kitchen. I'm a little jealous, though. Would love to have that kind of drain board.
