Garden room - toilet waste!
Garden room - toilet waste!Hi, I have been browser of this forum for a long time and I am now wondering if anyone would have any advice for me. I have just had planning permission granted for a garden room, which will be used as an office and ancillary accommodation. We have already come across the first hurdle, a plumber has told us that in order to have a toilet, we would need to dig a trench through our neighbours garden to get to the mains soil pipe. This is out of the question so I am hoping there will be another solution. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Re: Garden room - toilet waste!Hi brook cottage welcome to the Lane.
Ive not really got any advice to offer I'm afraid other than how about one of those saniflo systems I'm sure someone with some know how will be along soon. The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have, instead of what you don't have

I suppose a compost loo in the garden would be out of the question? (Look at us girlies Ellie - answering questions on drains!! ) Helen xx

Re: Garden room - toilet waste!I'd look at an earth closet or compost loo, lots of benefits if you can get your head round them!

Woody Allen Re: Garden room - toilet waste! Is it a plumber you have used before? If not then I would get a second opinion, surely the thing would be to dig up your garden to connect to your mains?
Not that I know anything about plumbing of course Re: Garden room - toilet waste! It not just a matter of connecting up to your own mains Mrs B, you have to make sure that the fall of the new pipe can be accomodated, curently between 18mm and 90mm per metre of soil pipe for the new pipe to work properly.
Depending how far the new toilet is from Brook Cotteges own mains that may not have been possible But i,m still very impressed with you girls drain knowledge. Dont ever grow up, its a trap
