Fence cleaning

Would anybody know how to clean a picket fence??

I have got one in my garden that has been painted cream, but where it gets very little sunshine it has gone green. I did tackle it with a bucket of warm water and a scrubbing brush but that is getting me nowhere and I asume that I can't paint it unless it is clean?

I've got an empty tin of something in the garage, that I used before I Sandtexed the walls.
I'll see if I can find it.

I would think once you have got the thick of you could paint over the rest.

[Homemade]

Can be a bit messy but a pressure washer would clean it quickly. Depends what is either side of it that might be damaged if blasted!
