I use CDs blowing in the wind on my plot, but I not sure the local council would be too happy if I used the river and a system of pulleys over teir riverside walk! )grin2(

It was a Japanese string set up near a small river/stream. The force of the water kept all the bird deterrants moving above the veg/flower plot.
Lots of string and pullies though....
