Will rose spray damage wisteria?

Post by Willow »

Will spraying roses against black spot & greenfly damage a wisteria which is growing over the same arch?

I wouldn't have thought so but don't quote me! What does it say on the back of the bottle?

You could always email the makers I guess.

The one I normally use is Rose clear - and the only thing it says on the back is to keep it away from bodies of water and edible crops..

Hmm - personally, I can't see why it would damage it then.

The spray won't hurt the wisteria. If by any chance you have strong sunshine at time of spraying it might just scorch the flowers - but thats not likely this year!

A wisteria is really rather large for an arch. You might want to move it next winter. If not you will need to keep trimming back the new growth. Wisteria flowers on old wood so keep a structure of main stems.

Thanks Homemade, I'll get the spray out if it ever stops raining )gr: -
The arch is pretty huge & made of 4" x 4" timber , about 6ft plus wide and 4ft in depth so hopefully it wont be too much of a problem for a while yet..
(Having said that, the wisteria does seem to grow pretty fast  )

Did you know that bog standard washing up liquid (diluted) works well on greenfly?
