LILAC TREEg
LILAC TREEgWhat is the best way to stop the lilac tree from seedling everywhere please?
Maggie.
Re: LILAC TREEgOnly thing I can think of is to de-head the flower stalks before they can set seed.
Unless the problem is suckers, in which case I haven't a clue. Dom Ali Woks My World
Re: LILAC TREEgI have that problem too - loads of branches growing a foot from the root

Re: LILAC TREEg
me too - from the neighbour's tree Re: LILAC TREEgAs totally scrambled says if its not to big dead head it. Or if you have a lot of suckers just put a spade through them. One little tip and I learnt the hard way, don't cut it right back as it stops it from blooming the following year, well with me it was about 5 years as I cut it back really hard.
Re: LILAC TREEgWe take out the suckers with loppers. We do it to the pear tree too, which is grafted.
And we too chopped it back too far about 3 years ago - this year it has come back with a vengeance, it looks lovely but is HUGE 1 dumbo rat still without a name; 2 top eared rats Octavia and Ursula
