Found three of these in the Greenhouse...

Bit like the Puffball, they puff their spores out.

Just waiting for the cat to take a sniff !

My grandfather was a good one for forageing ,all manner of mushrooms and fungie used to end up in the kitchen ,can remember comeing upon this one in the woods but cant ever remember him gathering it so probably not eatable,he used to go mad for giant puffballs which these were like once opened,puffballs on the table yes these no. )t'

Wow, it looks as if it has been carved! Good job it's not 1st April or I might have been a bit suspicious!

if I remember correctly all of the earth stars are poisonous. very nice to look at though.

Google image 'earth star fungi', there's loads of variations.

Spoony - I read up on the poisoness bit, they're definitely not good for you and can occasionally cause the odd organ to fail !

I did Google it Richard and am just glad that I didn't offer to eat my hat if it really did exist. :oops: In all my years, I have never heard of an earth star fungi before. As they say," you live and learn". So sorry I doubted you >veg3<

I am a very forgiving person !!! But, I do wind people up so much, you are not the only one to ponder over something I've said or written :-D
