Lawn problems

Hello,
I have a lawn that is a mud bath at the moment due to having three Labradors, all female.
Every year i have to reseed most of it as the dogs urine kills it off even though during the summer i have watered it every day. The problem is that the mud that is left really smells of urine.
Has anybody any advice on what i can do to improve the soil and which grass seed to use, i have used the one that is meant to be dog urine resistant and it doesn't work.
