Can I compost moss?
Can I compost moss?I had an idea to use surface soil scraped off the driveway at the bottom of a pallet veg bed, covered in cardboard and with fresh compost on the top. The soil contains a lot of small weeds and mosses.
Will this work or will I have a forever problem with the moss? Re: Can I compost moss?I'm interested to hear what people think, having scraped a lot of moss of the drive (such a lot this year, don't remember it other years) and put it in the compost bin.

Re: Can I compost moss?Yes but it needs to be spread out amongst the rest of items to be composted.
Re: Can I compost moss? Thanks Go4 - could you explain a wee bit more, please?
I was concerned that the moss might just reproduce. What does the spreading out do? Does that help it break down?
Re: Can I compost moss?Yes, if you put it all as a lump it doesn't compost down. Just spread it out and it will be fine.
Re: Can I compost moss?Go away Glenn. Spammers not wanted here.
