wood preservative: does the inside of the coop need doing to

Post by OldForum »

Ok so hugely daft question, having used wood preservative on the outside of the coop (I'm spotty with it ) should I put it inside too?

It's clean and sound, and I don't mind doing the painting, but will it be of any use?

Thanks for any advice, Emma

Why not,
I do mine with white emulsion [I have to do it often] as I like it to look clean.
Last year when I had a BIG red mite problem, I painted it with gloss paint, as it is oil based, it seem to do the trick fairly well. Only thing the girls had to go in the garage overnight, because of the smell.

I creosoted my arc last year, having put the hens in a 'summer house' that we'd knocked up from an old fence. I didn't do the nest boxes though - didn't fancy tainted eggs.
