This Year's Hatch

Post by Totally Scrambled »

Ali's been busy hatching chooks this year so I thought you might like to see some photos.
The first lot, 14 in all, are some white and lavender Leghorns she bought the eggs for and some of our own. There was a bit of a mix up and we seem to have got Orpington/ Legbar crosses that we are calling Orpybars which we think should lay greeny/blue eggs.
This is their first day out of the covered run and they seem to be having fun.

The second lot, 15 in all, are mostly our own Orpingtons and are a mix of Lavender, Blue and Black birds there are also some hatched from bought eggs that are Lavender Cockoo Orpingtons.
They are between 5 and 8 weeks old and this is their first day out of the brooder box and into the covered run.

How lovely.
After the battered ones, I also love Orpingtons.
