Ever had attacks from above ?

Post by Richard »

Just wonder if anyone's ever experienced Chickens, Bantams or other Poultry being attacked and / or taken by Birds.

Hi ,pretty dam sure it happens . Trouble being that if a large bird of prey and it carries it off you never know what happened .
Thats is why I have cockerals to give the warning calls . They do it to the helicopters flying over the A13 (accidents ,police etc ). Had a bird chase a collor dove over the garden whilst hanging the washing out.

I've seen one swoop into the run but it had to pull up to prevent itself hitting the fence on the way out. I think it is a sparrow hawk as I have seen it take a bird out of the air and land in the garden next door to have its dinner.

It was when we had young bantams so probably just about the right size to whip away - luckily it didn't manage to grab any!
