Red mite killers

Post by bikesandbirdsbob »

Hi on a more serious note not like on my thread . Does anyone know about the supposed red mite killers , friendly bugs etc .
Like having a pet spider that eat the flies .
Sure I have heard about them but not sure how to encourage them in coops .
Comments welcome , silly ones as well as no harm in having some fun on a serious subject to hen keepers.

I haven't a clue, Bob. Never heard of anything eating red mites.
When my last lot had red mites I treated it chemically, but cannot for the life of me remember what I used.
I will keep an eye on this thread to see what others say.

Someone out there has got me for sure , I have heard it in many formats , read it in mags , heard it . Never seen it/them though . Must be small.
Will say that after I wrote this on thread , the numbers in an hour shot up to a 1000 plus ...
Must have been good for the forum....

I out of curiosity looked on Ebay /google for this subject.
Actually found a firm at Halstead Essex supplying them .
Called Androlis
Not sure what is needed to breed said creatures.
Has anyone used and make comments on.
maybe I should investigate and visit the pens at Halstead .
