We have converted our childrens old playhouse into a coop. Since this photo was taken, we have added woodland bark to the run and all of the bedding and accessories in prep for the girls.
my blog http://louisesetter.blogspot.com/ Wife,Mum of two and 6 hybrids. Bluebelle the Bluebelle, Aileen the Bovan Nera, Lilly the Amber Star , Violet the Columbian Black Tail, Beatrix the Light Sussex and Florence the Speckledy.
bought the house and run from ebay. very happy with the quality but when it arrived we though we need more run space for our new girls. we talked about moving the greenhouse to make room as we don't use it. then we had the idea of using the greenhouse as a weatherproof run
the success of a person is not measured in money but in how many toys they have
Finally here are pics. of my coop. It has the original small coop and run with covered extension added last year. The run is set into the garden edging on three sides and have as yet (fingers crossed) made it both rat and fox proof. Please note the "Chicken Watching Stool"
You've done the hard bit by hosting the image online.
Go to the picture, right click, copy image url (Or properties and copy it) then paste it in your post, hi-light it. then click on image above then and it should appear like the code above.
Further to my post above: I have added a removable panel to the top 7 " of the door so it's smaller and more bantam sized - for the time being.
The floor level is about 9" above ground level so that on the odd occasion when cofined to the run the hens can go underneath. Even when allowed free range they seem to go under there, particularly when it's raining.
Temporary coop & run set-up (which was fine when the chickens were a third of the size they are now).
Here's another one, shows the very temporary bungeed-on plastic roofing: We had new flags laid to make an even and hopefully fox-proof footprint, and the new Walk-in-Run has gone up today. The original coop has been raised up to make space for feeders under. Still a lot to do tommorrow.... Still to go on tomorrow: corrugated plastic roof, roosting bards & kickboards. Then I get to paint it and put some trellis up. Two of the four chickens couldn't "find" the coop (clue: it's up the super high ladder), so I had to give them a hand up to beddy-byes I've warned my OH that he might to catch them when they pile out of the coop in the morning, and have forgotten they are up high. This reminds me to when my youngest started sleeping in a bunk bed.....
We've replaced the wooden coop on the right hand side with the new B and Q plastic shed complete with shelves and nest boxes and perches
The chooks move to the left hand side of the shed in Winter because its part covered and we re grass seed the summer run each spring and here is their new feeding tyre
We also added the stronger plastic mesh roof covering this summer which we can hang treat sticks etc from to keep the chooks occupied.
We're pleased with its progress and the new plastic shed will be so much easier to clean out.
Finished at last! Well the washing line needs moving but with the weather we are having we are in no rush!
Even the automatic door works, and all the chickens are in bed before the door shuts - result!
