Question on Broody chicken

Post by sunny »

If a hen is broody, does she still lay eggs? Ingrid has been broody for about 3 weeks now. When we first got the girls (about 8/9 weeks ago) we were getting 6 eggs a day I've been getting mainly 5 but sometimes 4 eggs a day for about the last 5 weeks.

they stop laying so that they can sit the nest
if this is not what you want
you need to cool her down
if you can separate her for a couple of days this normaly
gets them out of being broody
a broody birds temp is higher than normal
are you sure so is broody?
i have 15 chickens but i only get 12-14 eggs a day
with six birds i would only expect 5 a day
good luck
