Are my slugs too big or are my chickens too posh?

Just wondering: what's the biggest slug anyone's seen a chicken eat? I only ask because the slugs in our garden are such monsters that I think the chickens are scared of them! (I know I am ). I've only ever seen one of them have a go at a slug, then she ran around the garden daintily wiping her beak and looking quite distraught ...
I'm hoping that when they're scratching about in the grass, they're also snacking on baby slugs - they're certainly not going for the big 'uns. Any thoughts?
