Well we have them.

A Rhode Rock, Sussex Star and Blue Ranger. I'd put up the pics but I can't find the lead for the camera :?

So the Monochrome Set is back....

The rock seems to be in lay, she crouches well and her hip(?) bones are nice and wide apart, the Sussex not far behind but the ranger looks very immature still, no comb to speak of.

The Susses is currently inside trying to dig her way out of the coop - very noisy, very determined.

They are enclosed in the very small run for a few days so they get used to the new place and we can keep a close eye on them. Then we will put up the leccy fence and let them out into a much bigger space. Problem with the wind is they'll probably find it very easy to go over the top >dum<

Never mind, we managed before, we'll manage again.

Oh god - the noise!

Why didn't someone remind me? They are growling and bokking and stomping (lots and lots of stomping) and basically being very angry sounding.

It's a good job we have no near neighbours or grumpy sods living nearby :-D

And it's bleddy freezing and blowing a gale. Maybe we should have waited until next week ..... not!

We just need to keep an eye out for beddy bye time so we can lock them in. Getting up will be no problem, but I'm sat in front of a real fire.... :-D

You can all have pics when I find the lead for the camera.

They won't have names, white one, black one and grey one is as close as we'll get!

Eggs! Day 1, we got a tiddly egg. The Rock we assumed as she was crouching when approached.

Yesterday - 2 eggs! OK so the Sussex, who is also redded up nicely, must also be in lay.

Today, 3! Now I am sorry, but the ranger has a vestigial comb and is nowhere near as red around the eyes, she can't be in lay! Really!

So not only do we have eggs we just weren't expecting yet, we have more than we could have dreamed of! Actually now I have typed that I expect they will all go off lay - as we would have expected in the first place!

Leccy fence is almost in place, they get the space tomorrow or Sunday.

Now, where would I have tidied the camera bits to >coc<

Aaargh.

Sussex star is pecking the other two. She has pecked them baldy on their backs and drawn blood on both. She must have done it in the last hour as they were fine when we came in for tea!

She's in a box in the utility room for the night. I'll get anti pecking stuff in the morning. What I can't find any in the shed is a mystery. Anyway sudocreme is being administered to the poorly and the miscreant will go back in tomorrow.

The rum will be opened up earlier than planned and we will see what happens!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Run's done, Ranger has given it a whirl and sounded a tad upset, she scared the living daylights out if the Sussex who wandered around bokking as though she had been personally insulted.

No further sign of pecking, but the run is keeping them occupied.. Sudocreme is on thick enough to hide any redness... and we had an egg, at 6.45 this morning.

I checked the Ranger and she definitely isn't in lay, so someones eggscalator is running double fast at the moment , 7 eggs from 2 chickens in 3 days (so far) >dum<

I promise to find the camera lead and put the piccies up!
