So today I have reluctantly clipped their wings.

I think I may have done something silly though. I thought that while I was at it, I would help myself distinguish between them by doing some on the left wing, some on the right. I checked twice before I did this. But I have a horrible feeling I may have done one of them twice and one of them not at all! Which wouldn't have happened if I'd chosen the same wing on all of them.

I'm not going to catch them again today, I will have a proper look when they go to bed and I can stretch their wings out again.

They bore me no grudge whatever and have carried on happily pottering around my feet in the garden. :-D

Dutch Bantams, Maggie. I kind of filtered down to these as the most suitable breed for my space, and I loved the photographs which reminded me of those old oil paintings of farmyard scenes.
Then when I saw them in real life, I lost my heart to them completely.

Thank you, Sandy, I know they will - I just wish they weren't such good flyers!

Today they have mostly sulked. It has been very, very windy all day, with squalls of rain. They came out every so often to see if it had stopped (and whenever I walked past, I don't know what they expected me to do about it). But they have spent very little time outside the coop today and went to be early in a bad mood. Let's hope it's better tomorrow.

Today I have learnt:
1. They don't care for fresh peas in the pod
2. They love cherries

Well, after my horrible shock (see my post in Chicken Keeping) I am settled enough for today's diary.

I picked up a great branch for them today, to use as a perch in their moveable run. They love it and I will post a couple of pictures of them sitting on it. They even dozed off, although according to all the books, it's too big for their feet to lock onto while they are asleep.

My son helped me to put their rings on, so I can now start observing which is which a little more easily. They don't seem to have even noticed the rings. I can now see how their personalities differ, and be sure I'm watching different ones do different things.

I had a lot of weeding and tidying to do in the garden today so they've had a good couple of hours pottering round with me.

They are such pretty little lasses and coming on a treat :-D . iv also notice mine dont like fresh peas either but will eat cooked or raw frozen ones. They should count themselves very honoured because i dont share pod peas with anybody, hubby says they are spoilt(he should know its mainly him doing the spoiling) {rofwl} Lindaxx
