Morning all.
Just a quick up date on the girls.
Mollie has started laying again, not every day but about twice a week. She loves her grapes and comes flying up to me in the morning and keeps jumping up until the bowl of fruit is placed on the floor where she dives straight in.
Pippa is getting very heavy but seems healthy and is enjoying life as top hen and is quite placid towards all the other girls. She is close to Lola so i expect she is second in command, probably because she is the noisiest of the lot.
Rosy and Roxy are still at the bottom of the pecking order but seem fine. They are funny to watch as they dive in for the treats and then run off with them to eat them in peace.
I am going to put their swing up for them today in the inside run, i have had it since Christmas but haven't got round to putting it up. I expect they will probably ignore it!
I hope your wrist is healing well Sandy and will be back to full working order soon.
Sorry to hear you have lost some much loved girls Bob, it doesn't get any easier does it. Fingers crossed for the ones that are under the weather atm, with your love for them they are in the best hands.

Hi Amber. Glad your girls are doing well. I would be really interested to know how they get on with the swing. Rose and Vi will not go near anything "new" - even if I walk down the garden with a different dish they have a fit!! Good luck - it sounds like great fun (hope your girls think so and realise how lucky they are).

Unfortunately miracles are few and far between , and I save a hen and lose a lot more . It is the boys that are so worrying .

Bob what’s that to do with swings?

Fingers crossed for Mollie today please, she is off to the vets this afternoon.
I think she has the start or EYP as yesterday she didn't want to mix with the others and hid in the coop. Today she has turned her beak up at her grapes so i know something is wrong.
She has also passed some yellow looking liquid which looks like egg yolk. I have given her a bath and cleaned her up.
I hope i have caught it in time.

Not good news re Mollie. The vet had a good feel around inside. There was no egg stuck but she did say that both her tubes felt "knobbly" so there was something going on in there.
She is now on Baytril and pain killer. It is just a matter of time.
At the moment Mollie is standing nodding off in the corner they all wish to go to when unwell.

Sorry to hear that Mollie is not well. It does sound like EYP to me - unfortunately I have had this dreadful experience too many times with previous girls. It's a terrible thing and one that I dread so very much. Hope the medication helps and will keep everything crossed for you and Mollie.
