Hi all , not gone to see Desmond yet , will this week .
When will I learn , do not work when chickens are around your feet .
I put a small plastic box of wire U nails . The new white hen came looked at stepped on and knocked the lot on the run floor . Next 20 minutes picking up , fighting off the rest of the flock from scratching them all around the run.
I have put the internal door between the runs up. Need to get some more long 4 x 2
7 foot long to use as the opening side . Then cut the wire off after fastening to the new 4 x 2 wood.
Eggs have dropped off , probably to being to hot.
Light blue 2 ring was seen eating a apple and food , so maybe she was having a rough molt .
As on nights enjoying the flock .
Thank you Sandy , I do like them , but I wish you did not .
Will try and visit you soon in Bristol or if you are heading towards me , meet you part way.

Hi all , out and about yesterday , so not much time with the flock . Red wanted out so took her for a walk around the garden . they all really want to dig up the garden for me. Done some more work on the sheds and runs as well .
Plan to get to Southend TODAY without fail . Bought some mixed corn to take and take some meal worms as well.

Hi all , I have had a sad afternoon.
I went to visit my boys and I looked over the fence . Searched for them . Saw Desmond sitting in the field all on his own . I lobbed a load of meal worms and called him , he saw it was me and treats .
Ran to me , to be swamped with hens and the boys in the field chased him off .
He is well looking and on his own .
Maybe early for him to gain a flock .
Jack was in a run on his own . Crowed ,but to far for me to treat .
Owners not in . Left a 20 kilo bag of mixed corn and a large bag of meal worms .
Drove home not happy .
Nothing I can do , at least they are alive .
My flock are beginning to misbehave like they used to . Red straight out the door , into the kitchen , cat bowls and peck , peck . had not forgot , waited for her chance .
Still lots of eggs.

Well lots to ponder on .

Bob that is so sad about Desmond and Jack. Is there no way you can have them back at hiome, but maybe bring them inside overnight so they aren't making as much noise?

No , Girl is doing shift work so it is not just a night thing . I was hoping that I could get through to the winter , but can not.
They are alive and will visit them this week one evening .
I am sure I could get them back if somebody wanted to home them .
Not much chance I think .

Hi hens out crying for food , unbelievable as the all have plenty in feeders .
They are waiting at the gate watching all the lights going on in the street .
Blackberries and brambles picked last evening when polo walking , Sweet cobs .
Cabbage cut up to beak size mouth fulls .
Left to get on with it .
Sold a bale of straw at work .
I can now get out of bed at 5.20 am and be at work for 5.50 am .
Show shave catch up with sleep when I get there.
So all should be good .
Still looking for some land / woodland , not to easy to find at the right price .

Just read your post, Bob. Sorry to hear your two boys have not settled and gained a harem yet. Maybe in time they will.

hi all ,2 ring light blue is failing I think , she is still getting about and eating a littlr .
Her legs appear to be like Simone`s . A form of bumble foot.
I am washing her legs in hibi and covering it with cream .
She is very old and am expecting the worst and hoping for the best.
She is not suffering and enjoying the last of the summer sun.
Rest of the flocks are doing well and can not get to eat enough.

Hi all , 2 ring blue is the center of my attention .
I have been giving her baytril and water .
She is eating but being pushed off . Still quick , cleaning her self . Lost weight .
I will give her some baytril and other med`s and watch her .
Still gets to roost in the big coop . sad to get old . Will have to have a look to see how old she actually is . Will not make any difference .
looking forward to the drive to Bristol Sunday .
Sunday am /pm there is an auction of poultry near by .
I will go and have a look . Want to get a silkie white one if possible.
She (Pom Pom ) was a good hen and miss her calling .
All good other than above .

Hi all , Sandy has said to me last Sunday that she was getting some Predators that eat red mite .
Well , After much debate between us , I will be getting some ..
The chaps at work are building a cage that will be strong enough to keep them in .
I hope I can get a breeding pair . I fancy the Black and white ones. Training them to get on my hand and become lap sitters maybe a bit harder .
Not sure when breeding season starts , but can wait .
If anyone has a breeding pair I can have let me know .
sandy please send me the pet shop phone number .
Thank you for a good laugh Sunday and looking forward to the next one.
bob
Chocks all good when I got home , all inside and sleeping , except the two outsiders .

I have also been thinking about getting some predator mites but my coop is full of smite and de and that will kill the predators too...

Do the predator mites completely clear them away (Sandy do you know?) Because there has to be an easier way - although that said, and touching wood here, I think the numbers have reduced >fi<

Sandy , I was trying hard to get people talking about huge monster red mite eaters .
I believe you did say there was red mite eaters but the DE would kill them as well.
O well , I will drop this as not April 1st and leave it to people to discuss .
I am sure if there was a red mite creature eater out there we would all be having them in our coops .
Some people have not got the same sense of humor as me for sure , either that I am mad or both .
Bob
Flock are being rather naughty and I need to grow extra hands as two chocks go for the door and then the rest run for it . Then I give up and they are out in garden . It has now lost all the green bits that was growing in 2 escape s only.
Also I have in my garden a RACING pigeon . feeding it but will not let me catch it .
Indie my cat is trying though .
