Flubenvet supply problem

Post by kitla »

I've recently tried using the marriages ready dosed pellets, my lot free range
which isn't ideal so I gave it to them for an extra few days, but it either hasn't
worked or one of them has caught worms again (wriggly poops yeuc!) so I want
to use the powder this time. However, it's out of stock everywhere, shops and
online, with no date available when it will be back in. Does anyone know what's
happened? or if there's an alternative we can use?

Don't know about that, but I've got some if you want a bit?

Thanks Karen very kind of you to offer but I think I'm ok now.
I found a conversation about this on another forum & there is another product
called "Solubenol Oral Emulsion" which I believe is made by the same company &
contains the same base product. It is a liquid that goes into the drinking water - this
may be easier for me so long as I stop them drinking out of the birdbath!. Also
Solubenol is licenced for pigs and chickens & there's still no egg withdrawal.
I've ordered some from hyperdrug

That sounds like a far more convenient option. Let us know how it works, I might give that a go myself. )t'

Golly, I thought it was expensive enough as it was!
How did you get on with the liquid one Perchy?

I havn't used it yet, but I think it should be ok as long as they are in the run with the water there, if they are free ranging I think that would be more of a problem, the vet says it is very good, as good as the powder flub )t'

Perchy, do you have the instructions for the dosage from your vet??
I've received the sachets but the instructions are based on having ALOT of hens,
and it suggests giving the appropriate amount for their weight then (I think) taking
it away when they've had the right dose :? >shrug<
I thought I'd be able to just dose the water & let them take what they need all day,
the same way as the feed version.
On the other forum it was suggested 1ml solubenol to 9ml water, is this what
your vet suggested Perchy?

If your instructions are for a lot of hens it might be advisable to check the strength of the solution. With the powder you can get 2 sorts with a different % of flub. So the right dose of 1 would be several times too much of the other.
