Belly Dancing book/video recommendations

Post by Emma »

Ay up folks

I've treated myeself to a belly dancing costume, and since there are no classes in my area, I'd love to hear any recommendations you might have on instuctional book/videos/dvd etc that you've found useful.

Otherwise it's potluck on ebay/amazon!

Thanks, Emma

Blatent plugging of Amazon I know.

Here's three books with the best reviews

The Art of Belly Dancing

Belly Dancing for Fitness

Belly Dancing Basics

I looked at the DVD's, but there weren't any with high star ratings, plus some were Region 1 only.
Type 'Belly Dancing' in DVD section and have a look round there.

I think a video is a must once you have got the hang of it.

If you are anywhere near the M60, there are classes on a Friday night at Prestwich (Bury) in the Longfield suite.
I was there last night at an Irish Set Dance festival, and there were flyers on the table.

Ive been a belly dancer for four years now and it is such good fun.
Having moved to the island 2 years ago, i was desperate to find a group here , and I did. They are , I have to say, a bit more conservative over here but wearing my costumes has caught on with the others and they are now scouring ebay for stuff.
I look at clips on google video, u tube, there are pages of the stuff.
good luck and enjoy (f+
