I wish. I can think of far better ways to spend evenings loading that lot up!!

Then there's the Christmas do's coming up. I eat the food they eat, so by the time Christmas comes, I'll look like a turkey!!

Mind you, the pans took me ages, then there's the units to clean, the floor...............

The things I do for money !!

Ged, why don't you try mail order and get a pre-nup for your next wife :!:

Dishwashers - wonderful things. We run ours every 2 days on the 30 degree setting which isn't too bad. Given the choice we'd get rid of the clothes washing machine first.

Is it being suggested that Ged gets a wife from a Littlewoods (c) catalogue? I think you'd find they're just modeling the socks etc..

Water use

Post by grasshopper30 »

I find to do the washing by hand I have to run the tap for an age before I get hot water, in summer I run the cold stuff into a watering can to put on the veg.

The dish washer takes in cold water and heats just the water it needs!

I've read the thing to do with a dish washer is NOT to rinse the plates first! My mother in law virtually cleans her plates before they go in the dish washer!!!!

i hate the problem of having to wait for water to heat while all the clean cold water goes down the drain!
i dont really have a prob with doing a sink of dishes as the amount of cold water is fine to mix with hot (once it heats up) to start the job. it's only with other things like shower, washing one dish (which i try not to do but it's unavoidable sometimes!) etc.
apparently there's a gadget that recycles the cold water sitting in the pipes when you turn the hot water tap on and sends it back into the water heater. when the cold water's gone you get hot water through the tap. i definitely am looking into getting one of those when we build our new house. (i think you can retrofit on old houses, but we are renting at the mo)

yes my mum does the rinsing the plates b4 dishwasher thing :?
i never did when i had a dishwasher, but it can be a bit of a drawback as you have to wait to have enough dirty dishes before you can do a load. the half-drawer type are probably good for small households, but i imagine youd still need quite a few things to fill the half drawer.

I was trained (by OH 40 years ago) to rinse the detergent off after washing up.
So the cold and warm water fills the rinsing bowl, when it's hot it goes in the washing bowl.

It takes me about 5-10 ltrs of running the hot tap to get hot water through, that mounts up over a year!
