I walk and bike a lot, but for this venture, I think the point is to squeeze that down even further by lessening our footprint more than we may be already.

It's not about what we're already saving and not frugality as in saving money.

If we're going to use the car exactly the same as usual, we're not changing anything.

Sue is feeling a bit better now, thank you Perchy. Today I made two trips to the dump for her, she had a tree cut down in her front garden, she had chopped most of it up and it needed shifting. My car is handy for jobs like that, I use it like a van.

Reading through Richard's post again, I dont think I qualify for this thread. I only use my car when I have to, or to help a friend out. And of course I am frugal with my car use mainly to save money. I tread lightly on this earth, my footprint is already lessened in lots of other ways. So I think I'll drop out of this because I have nothing to contribute.

I don't know that I agree with you Ilona...I think you can contribute a great deal to this but in a different way.
What you see as everyday way of living others may have to think about....how many times do you walk when you could use the car?
Don't just put down when you didn't use it but when you didn't but could have used it (does that make sense?).
It makes people think and surely that's doing you're bit too.

Ilona,
As everyone else is doing one where they use their car less to be more frugal/eco conscious maybe you, being permanently frugal/eco conscious, could use the car more and show us how much more it has cost you :-D
A sort of anti frugal living, eco, green diary. )t'

Dunno if I qualify either ? I am lucky if I put 5,000 miles a year on my car.
But when we can walk, we do.

I haven't started a thread in this topic for that reason. I do try to be frugal and eco-friendly, (maybe not as much as I did) limit car use by shopping when I'm going elsewhere, offering lifts if several of us are going somewhere. But not because it's Carbon month on DTL. For the same reason I didn't join in much with Richards 'frugal challenge' last year. or in reverse the 'treats Thursday'. (If someone tells me to do something I'll do the opposite!)

Still if it helps someone to start thinking about it, then it can't be bad.
