The Metamorphical Technique - heard of it?

Post by chucky egg »

Hi All
Just to add variety to my life I now have a poorly rabbit - Bunsta (Sticky Bun) -who was recently bonded. Not just poorly chucks for me, oh no!
He has an illness called EC (Can't pronounce the very long name but it is a parasite that attacks the brain) which causes amongst other things , head tilt and poss. paralysis.
My vet suggested the above using his inner claws rather than the thumb circular motions around the claw, up and around the joint (ie wrist). Right and left hind and then front right and left in that order. Thisould be teh same for humans.
I wondered if anyone else had heard of it? It was discovered" by a dr (name escapes me) in the 60s with Downs Syndrome babies with apparently amazing results.
The net gives info but wondered whether there was a personal result out there that would be happy to share.
Atm I'm giving him a basic massage to keep his muscles loose....
Many hanks

Oh Wendy, what a shame.
I haven't heard of it only Tellington Touch. Which sounds similar.
Good luck with Bunsta's treatment.
It is time you had a little good luck isn't it?

Hi Wendy
I don't mind not having good luck jsut a ceasing of BAD for my lot of rescues. Thansk for the Tellington Touch I'll take a look round when I can. I'm willing to try anything if it will help him.
His big brown eyes just contract my heart...

Blimey Chucky, you dont do things by halves, do you? Got any of that potion left? Maybe try a drop when you're doing the massage.

Hi Citrine
Yes I have. That's a good idea. My head si spinning atm trying to learn all I can regarding what Buns' going through.

Bunsta hates his feet being touched atm too which I think ahs to do with the confidence/balance thing so the M. technique is out of the question for now. Simple massafe and spine tweaking (as I call it).
Cheers )t'
ps citrine )ot: will be in touch regarding October when I get a minute to go to my pm. I am determined also to get online when I am on leave next week.

Thats fine!

yeah, getting your poor bunny used to having his paws pampered first, then, once he is happy with it, go for the thingy-me-bob, he'll be more complient (hopefully!)

will he eat treats from your hand ?
If so. Try putting the tidbit at his mouth and as soon as you touch a foot give the treat. It should only take a little while to get him used to it. Obviously you have to do it on all four feet.
Never tried it on a bunny, but you never know.

Thanks Wendy
Certainly worth a try. He has to take some med. by mouth so is going through the 80 a day smokers mouth routine. )j;
Its going to be for a long while yet so hopefully he will get used to it.
As his little head is at180 degrees it is also difficult for him to work out how to eat when on my lap (He has to ly down flat atm). Its tragic as he loves a cuddle usually but gets nauseous and dizzy now...
Just got to play around until we hit on the right time/way.
Thanks for the tips you two. )t'

It is the best way to get a dog used to being touched all over.
Touch Treat, Touch Treat.
Lets hope it works on little Bunsta

Thought I'd already added this.
Thanks to some wonderful help from bunnywise people and a fantastic vet bunsta (Sticky bun) has made a great recovery.
Have learned lots of scarey and strange things about buns and massage techniques on the way!
Cheers Wendy and Citrine for your support; it was horrible but he is only left with a sweet quizzical expression now and is just as naughty as ever. The massaging helped keep everything from locking so that when he improved his head was able to tilt almost back to normal.
