'Apple' amber'Apple' amberHaven't made this since I was at school.....Picked some gooseberries and chopped some rhubarb, stewed it, added 4 egg yolks and some cinnamon, whisked the 4 egg whites added sugar and baked gas mark 2 for 30 mins - dare I say this myself....its gorgeous!
sounds great. Does it 'taste' of gooseberries, as I don't like them. But if they blend with the rhubarb & cinnamon....then I may give it a go. I will have to wait for my girls to lay some eggs though LOL

Not really but if you don't like gooseberries I would give them a miss. you can do that can you? Could I replace with something else?

Can't see why not - I would use any fruit available also, ginger could be substituted for the cinnamon. 'Apple' amberOh Mo,
I think it could be OK.....(laughing while I type this!) I am coming up to the too many plums season.......so I will make 'apple' amber with plums.

If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning 'Apple' amberI used about one and a half pounds of fruit with the 4 eggs - it made enough for 6 good puddings which lasted 3 days. They said in the book to serve it with cream but the meringue (it stayed crisp in the fridge) was ample.
Cooked it last night, as we had friends for Dinner. I made it with rhubarb from the garden and my girls eggs. It was absolutely lovely. Quite a hit, I certainly will do it again.
Thanks Wendy http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
