My Buddlia! Oh No!!

Post by Knikitta »

Help! My Buddlia is covered in little black things, they look like teeny tiny ladybirds, really small and black with tiny white spots or markings. Ants are walking on them as well.
I swear I'll have a permanent imprint of my palm over my face from reading forums.

have a look at Bugs & Weeds under 14 spot ladybird 'A' - it describes a really tiny "black" ladybird with markings - maybe what you have is a ladybird after all :-D

Ants are usually after the honeydew from aphid. And ladybirds eat aphid so you may be seeing sign of both. Black aphid like you get on broad beans woulkd be my other thought.
If its lady birds you want them, if its aphid you need to get rid of them.
