Any tips for picking and preparing broad beans and still having clean enough hands to go out. I've tried scrubbing!

We painstakingly peel off the skins which in effect takes off the 'sour' taste.
This makes them slightly similar to peas, but with a bean type tang to the tongue.
I love them like this, but personal taste.

On the clean hands, just get mucky!!

Can you lend me your kids?
I agree with you though. 35 or so years ago, when we lived on a housing estate the neighbours girls (age 4 and 8 ) used to come knocking. "please can we see your baby?" and they were amazed to find that peas grew in pods, on plants.

Have you tried a teaspoon of sugar and lemon juice? Rub your hands with this then wash.
I also buy Ecover (c) heavy duty handwash and this works to remove tomato green stain.
