uk animal research laws under threat

Post by kitla »

I signed a petition today at an animal rescue stall, regarding the risk that
uk laws protecting animals in labs may be reduced to EU lowere standards. There's more info about it online, but some of the sites are a bit extremest. The RSPCA is concerned about it. Animal testing has increased alot over the last few years, & alot of it is now unnecessary, but at least up to now the animals in the uk are slightly more protected than most other countries, but that may change

It seems our government can insist on keeping our higher standards, or it can just go with the flow with the rest of EU.
the deadline for any input (petitions etc) to the formal consultation is Sept 5th.
Unfortunately I cant find an online petition as such.

I went to the link you posted and clicked "how you can help", then clicked "take action here" and filled in the petition, but then it said I had to write something in my own words as it wouldn't be accepted otherwise.
Thanks for telling us all.
