Thank you all for the kind comments, that belt sander is rapidly becoming one of my favorite tools. )t'
I am considering the saying time is money. One of the insets could be filled with old spanish coins and notes but made to look like its been in there for years. The other side could be filled with old pocket and wrist watches.
I want something a bit less pradictble than stones etc. Something that make people say wow what a good idea. :-D

have you got lots of pasatas?
get hold of a glass saw and cut wine bottles in half lenghthways and mount them, or you could just chop the bottom off the bottles and stick them in.

Fantastic looking piece Al )t' , why not get some family momentoes and arrange them in the recesse's, then fill the recesse's with a water clear resin!, just a thought..

At long last I finaly got round to getting the table sort of finished. I am not sure about the coins in there now but I realy like the barbed wire. :-D

Steve its the does what it says on the tin brushing wax. this was the medium oak colour. )t'

My hands are fine thanks Miss Ellie, I used a pair of pliars to curl the wire while the other end was in the vice.
