Vertical Gardening.

Post by Orfy »

I've been thinking about starting a bit of vertical gardening because I have a Small garden, Chickens and my knees are playing up.

I've got a couple of planters made from old decking (Window box style) That have been a help.

But I've been looking for if possible an expandable cost free system that is easy to water and low maintainence. I was thinking about guttering on a wire system but that need plenty of guttering and fixing systems.

Any how, I found a system and have started it.

Video here.

Just a start. The plan is chicken proof garden plants in the bottom two and eaters in the top 3.

I have done vertical gardening for a while now but never used tower bottles before. I tend to use the rectangle planters from Wilc0s and put a climber at the back of it, then herbs or trailers at the front or companion plants.

Last year I had a planter (window box style tubs) with tomatoes at the back and marigolds at the front, another with Cucumbers at the back and garlic at the front and the third one had beans at the back and I think petunias at the front.

That way I had harvest and prettiness, as well as being beneficial to each other it also encouraged good insects and deter baddies! )t'

Unfortunately not, and I moved house recently so everything got emptied out, but I plan on doing it again this year whenever I find the time to go and buy new boxes!

You can't really tell it's bottles. When the plants bush out it'll disappear.

That's why I like the idea. It's not in your face.
