Ugly cooker - Lightest possible.

Post by Orfy »

I've been thinking about making or buying a lightweight stove for several reasons.
Yesterday I went to look at some and decided that I don't want to pay the price being asked for commercial items.

Plus I like to tinker.

This little beastie is as light as they come (Lighter than stove I've seen) and seems to perform as well as the commercial item.

This build is proof of concept.

I've just made 6 cups of fresh espresso and boiled a kettle on one table spoon of fuel.

If any one's interested I'll put more info/picture ups as I go.

At it's simplest it's an all in one self priming stove that will support a pot/kettle without the extra bits.

Made a few of those myself, very easy to make.

I made 3 yesterday.

This one performed the best.

Have you used yours yet Steve?

Not used it on a camping trip but used it keep warm on the garage a couple of times {rofwl}

Tried all different fuels, do not, I repeat do not use turps, smokey isn't the word :shock:

Tempted to try it with bigger cans just for a play but the smaller ones are so efficient I don't think it will be worth it.

:?

Just found that out.

Wilko's wanted £3 summat for a tiny bottle of meths, so I thought I'd try white spirit!

Don't be tempted to try anything with a bit of poke, lighter fluid and the like, apparently it makes the little stove go bang, apparently {rofwl}
