What to do with this?

Post by perchy »

We have a second hand unit which sells furniture, books and bric a brac whose proceeds go to the homeless shelter in a neighbouring town, I have to say they have had some very nice bits and pieces and I have bought a few odds and ends, anybody starting a home would have a field day, anyway, I went with toto19 yesterday as she bought a chesterfield settee and wing chair, and I spotted this

Image

Of course toto thought I was mad, but inside

Image

it also has some kind of hooks

Image

It isn't very pretty in its present state but I am sure I can do something with it and make it into a sewing, knitting, crochet box, does anyone recognize it? is it a sewing box?

It was £3 and it is actually very sturdy, I am rather looking forward to doing it up

What would you do with it?

please don't say put it on a bonfire

I would look for a hand made wool embroidery - you know the type of thing - that is made into cushion covers? You can often find them in charity shops. Then I would use it for the main seaty part and put some co-ordinating fabric on the rest and paint the sides and legs with matchpots.

I would then line the inside with some pretty material.

Well you did ask )grin2(

PS As I am such a good friend I have just taken some piccies of some wool embroideries I bought in charity shops. One I put on a stool/box thingy, the other is to recover my piano chair, but it has just remained plonked on top!

Ha ha ha! It's amazing what bits and pieces you can find actually - both of these are hand worked on canvas, but have never been finished.

with a few minor alterations you could use it as a fishing tackle box.
Obviously yu'd have to get rid of the legs and body and lid and replace them with fishing tackle box lid, body and legs but aart form that it's be ideal.

Hmmm......well if we are no longer sensible SS.....

If you remove the legs, pop a mast up with a skull and crossbones, it could be a pirate ship for Ock's cat.
