Still haven't had one. I've just bought some nicorette lozenges to help with the craving but not actually feeling too bad yet.

Well done Lucy, just take one day at a time. I was a heavy smoker for many years but gave up 12yrs ago and have never wanted one since. {hug}

I'm sure you don't need to hear how others did it but 8 days in intensive care, ( 2 intubated ) did it for me. {hug}
Also coinsided with the ban on smoking in the work place }hairout{
I have to say that walking into town knowing that I have beaten that habbit was great,
I walk a little taller, not hard at 5ft 1

I'm another ex-heavy smoker. At my peak (?) I could get through 40 a day. I tried cutting down, as others have said, but honestly found that cold turkey was the way to go.

I know you can do this. There is help available, which there wasn't when I stopped a long time ago, and there is no shame in asking for it.

Many ex-smokers tell me that they didn't really experience many side effects but there is always one cigarette that is hardest to give up. Mine was the after-dinner one. I got over this by finding something active to do straight after the meal, preferably something involving the hands. My best friend took up knitting; my OH started doing the washing up and I did piano practice.

Well done. Take one day at a time.
Bea; 19 hens (most of whom I intended to get); 6 bantams (which I never intended to have); old Benji dog and young Toby dog (who I definitely wanted). Three years into country living and loving it.
