Always really liked the idea of a chicken keeping diary but at the moment I'm afraid it is a case of:
Got up, let the girls out, went to work.
Came home, put girls to bed.

Had a great Chickeny day today.
Went to a local horsey place for some bedding, when I got back I saw on fb that Radio Lancashire were going to Happy Chicks and thought I'd pop along to offer some moral support to Sarah. Plan was to hang in the back ground.
So within have an hour I was being interviewed on the ease and delights of keeping ex batts.
I was absolutely terriefied but really enjoyed it.
Drove home through the snow and have spent the last hour cleaning out the coup, attatched run and topping up the Walk-in-Run with straw.

Think that is the same for most of us Saz but the way I look at it is - at least I am not writing a diary full of mishaps - quite good when everything goes according to plan eh ?

Well we didn't have a lot of snow but the girls were not impressed at the bit we did get. Even in the heaviest rain they have never taken themselves back into the coop before. They did finally figure out that half the run is covered but it took 2 baby gem lettuces.
This morning Fleur took great pride in announcing her egg. She has been laying for a few days now but I think this means she is back in the flow. All the others rushed in to see what she was yelling about. When I went to look 30 minutes later there were 3 lovely eggs for me.
Accidently left an open tin of sweetcorn out of the fridge yesterday so I think the girls can have it with their tea.

Well miracles do happen. Marmite laid an egg.

The little one in the middle.
Marmite laid about 6 eggs over last summer and I thought she'd decided not to bother.
I also think this proves she is actually a Bantam Orpington.
